This gem strikes at the core of what I seek in my craft. Lightweight and comfortable to hold and use, as well as visually appealing, rich in texture and elegant in form. Using a high iron clay, I threw the form on the wheel and pulled the handle, then decorated the drying surface with slip trailed patterns. Fired over the course of 4 days in a noborigama woodfire kiln, the variation in color and iridescence across the surface hints at the path of the flame around the pitcher’s body.
